I moved to the hills of West Virginia early in 2002. I left my teaching career in Art Education in Pennsylvania for something I knew nothing about.........sheep! I handled that lack of knowledge like I handle most things in life - I dove in and made mistakes but I did learn, I continue to set goals and share what I know. My knowledge has led me to raising 2 breeds of sheep: Coopworth & Jacob. You will find my page on each breed under "Sheep Breeds". I expanded into alpaca's, bred some and achieved my goal. I wanted to have a female in each color! I am now ready to breed again but that was just as Covid-19 hit, as things calmed down a bit and the Covid vaccinations started, I increased my female and male alpacas...on to breeding!
I also decided to include gelded llama's in my fiber flock of animals. Do I use them as guard animals.......not really, they mean too much to me! I find them to be very elegant and their eye's are simply beautiful and so easy to handle! I make use of all of my fiber, as you will see if you review the pages of my website. I simply moved my Art knowledge and experience with color and sculpture to the world of fiber! I have met so many great people through doing the fiber festivals, both vendor's and especially my customer's. I truly enjoy teaching and doing demonstrations at fiber festivals and seeing the faces "light up" as they learn about fiber, especially needle felting!
The farm is on 106 acres and the scenery is outstanding! The sheep are rotated in pastures as soon as the lambs are big enough for me to let them out at night. I am very fussy to say the least! But I do totally enjoy my little business with fiber! I thank each of you for helping to make this successful and for following me to fiber festivals and staying in touch for more!
I appreciate each of you -
